Speeding for Smogland is the first segment of the fourteenth episode of Wacky Races, and the twenty-seventh race overall.
Summary[]
Racing through the mountains towards Jollywood, California, all cars started. Dick Dastardly tried to pass 9 on a narrow so they used springy wheels to levitate 00 and overtook 9 but crashed on the top of the tunnel entrance, then flew back and landed on 2 and again crashed at the same location. Then 6 crushed 00 at the entrance. The race headed towards Mount Vapour Lock, a steep climb. Then Dastardly and Muttley unleashed a boulder on 7, but 7 sped away with ski poles, then the boulder rolled back and flattened Dastardly. The race headed towards Calamity Corner, and as 10 passed 3 his saw wheels cut through the road and made Calamity Corner more taxing. Car 3 missed the corner but used a parachute and a fan to not only land safely but overtake 10 back. In the desert, 5 was ahead of 7. Penelope painted her nails and stuck her arm out to dry, which inadvertently looked like she was indicating to go left, so 7 turned left instantly and crashed into a cactus and the tires burst. Then Dastardly spotted an unused King Arthur film set and created a shortcut to it which resembled a drawbridge. 4 flew over it, the Dragon from 2 used its flame breath to burn through the iron gate. Afterwards the Dragon spotted Dastardly and threw flame on him.
Then Muttley raised the drawbridge and 3 fell in the moat, converted to an underwater missile and torpedoed 00. At the home stretch, 1 was in the lead, 00 used a steel cable to stop the racers but failed as the cable was too high. 6 went through the cable and destroyed it with Dastardly and Muttley on the trees sent backwards. Coming towards the finish the race order was 8, 2, 4. 00 at the back used rocket power to overtake up to fifth but lost control and crashed into 10, which crashed into 4, which crashed into 2 and then crashed into 8. The crashes send all the drivers involved into different cars. The rules state that competitors must not cross the finish in different cars or it would result in disqualification. Dastardly and Muttley stopped 8 and then crashes occurred again and the drivers flew back in their correct cars but the cars were so heavily damaged they couldn't move. Then 6 with no room to pass crashed into 00, which crashed into 10, which crashed into 4, which crashed into 2 and then crashed into 8. With this momentum the cars crossed the finished line.
